GDIRC Statement on Gaza
GDIRC has always remained neutral, with no religious or political ties. But the suffering of children in Gaza compels us to speak out.
We believe every child has the right to play. In Gaza, conditions are so dire that this right has become irrelevant—survival comes first.
We support peaceful, non-political, and non-denominational efforts to end the conflict.
This is a plea to all political and humanitarian actors: act now, with compassion, so children in Gaza may live—and one day, play.
Portable play is in Venice for the Time Space Existence exhibition from May to November 2025.
Designing Play/Social Spaces for Refugee Children and Communities
Thanks to all of our sponsors:

The Global Design Initiative for Refugee Children was formed by members of Boston’s design community in 2016 in response to the Syrian Refugee Crisis with the goal of using design to fill the gaps left by humanitarian aid. This mission evolved into designing communal spaces for refugee families and children living in temporary encampments, globally, including those living in at risk communities in the US.
